A Hellenistic terracotta statue of a fashionable lady holding Eros. The figure is wearing a chiton and a thin himation, highlighted by extensive remaining white pigment. She’s holding a small Eros, with wings, and enlivened by flesh tones and pigmented facial features. These finely moulded figures, often highly decorated, rose in popularity during the 4th and 3rd centuries B.C. Common themes include fashionable women, gods and goddesses, heroic athletes, and bacchanalian merriment.
