This beautiful vessel once contained a food offering to be taken to paradise. Its elongated shape would have allowed meat or even grain to be stored inside it. The composition and painted elements on this piece create a lively and vibrant essence of an animal. The cylindrical animal stands on four modified legs, with an animal head on one end and a fluted rim on the other. The head contains a protruding nose and bulging eyes. Red dots along the eyes attract more focus to them, along with a series of red marks that lead to the bridge of the nose. A simple line brush stroke seemingly emulates the hair of the animal. Slightly hidden under the nose is an exposed mouth showing sharp teeth. Additionally, the overall body of the vessel has been intricately and skillfully painted. The pattern is carefully done using dark brown paint as the main medium with hints of red, which extend from the body to the lip of the vessel.
