This deer vessel is a uniquely-designed piece created out of burnished red earthenware. The vessel is low and oval shaped, with the legs of the deer supporting it. The head of the deer acts as an added form of stability, but also shows the deer in a grazing position. The details of the head are especially fine, with carefully sculpted horns, ears, as well as the facial features of the eyes and snout. The body itself also features some elements of geometric and circular incised designs. The overall composition of this deer vessel reveal a great sense of craftsmanship.
