It was during the Roman period that glassware, which began to be used in Mesopotamia and Egypt from about 3000 B.C.E., became a luxury item favored by the upper class. During this period, not only various technologies and molding methods were invented, but also mass production was possible.

With the fall of Constantinople in the early 13th century, promising glass engineers flocked to Venice. The Republic of Venice, which was reluctant to leak glass technicians from abroad, allowed them to live on Murano Island, and in the 15th century Murano became the center of glass production that encompassed both European and Islamic regions.
The Bohemia Kingdom began to imitate Murano’s free radicals from the 16th century. The resulting technological advancement correlated with the development of the domestic mining industry and science. Additionally, the Bohemia glassware, which is unrivaled in transparency and luster, was born. Bohemia glass and glasswork continued its fame even after the 17th century.
