This beautiful ceramic fish whistle would have been mould made, the form is perfectly symmetrical apart from a naturalistic curve in the creatures tail. The hollow form is exceptionally finely made, and has the blowhole at the top, and a further opening in the fish’s mouth. The fins and eyes are appliquéd, while the scale pattern is incised, and the tail is finished with a key pattern. This amazing whistle is realistically colored with ochre, and possesses a character all of it’s own, as well as being a usable instrument.
