Chinesco-style Nayarit pieces commonly depict plain figures that are, many times, reduced to simple anatomical features, such as thick legs, small arms and a larger, round head. Many of these works additionally feature decorative elements using red paint. This figure features stripes of red paint along the neck, body and legs. Like many Nayarit figurines, it is likely that this piece would have been used as part of a funerary ritual within a culture that places high importance on their burial practices.
