This Anatolian Marble Idol was created in Asia Minor during the Early Bronze Age. These idol figures were popular in Anatolia during this time, which are reminiscent of Neolithic goddess figurines. Stylistically, these idols carried a similar shape with a small head, shaft and circular base, depicting a simple rendition of the human body. These idols represented the female body in its most abstracted form. This specific idol is unique in its many details of the face and circular body; many other idols found during this period have little distinguishing features as this one. Additionally, considering its small size, an object like this would have been used in daily life for domestic ritual.
