A lovely Hellenistic terracotta statue of a young woman. She wears a tightly fitted chiton, falling off her right shoulder exposing herself, and a loosely draped himation. Her gaze turned downward, away from the viewer, displaying her modesty. These finely moulded figures, often highly decorated, rose in popularity during the 4th and 3rd centuries B.C. Common themes include fashionable women, gods and goddesses, heroic athletes, and bacchanalian merriment.
