Upcoming Lecture Los Angeles: Life Along the Hudson

Barakat Gallery Los Angeles is proud to host the following lecture for the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art on Wednesday April 3rd from 6:30pm – 9:00 pm.

Life Along the Hudson: The Historic Country Estates of the Livingston Family
Pieter Estersohn, Guest Speaker

In Life Along the Hudson The Historic Country Estates of the Livingston Family, renowned photographer Pieter Estersohn presents sublime country homes overlooking the majestic Hudson River, offering some of the finest examples of stately American architecture built between 1730 and 1946 – all originally owned by members of the Livingston family and their descendants. Estersohn, who recently restored Staats Hall, a prominent residence located in the area and included in the book’s introduction, has long been fascinated by these enchanting homes and their histories. His photography provides one stunning interior and exterior view after another of several of these storied architectural gems, as well as their picturesque gardens and landscape designs. This insider’s perspective allows Estersohn to provide fresh insight into the historical significance of this beautiful region, which continues to lure those seeking stately and charming country retreats —as it has for centuries.

Pieter Estersohn is a leading photographer of architecture and interiors. His work regularly appears in major shelter magazines, including Architectural Digest, and he has contributed to many interior design and lifestyle books, among them Charlotte Moss’s Rizzoli publications. He is the author of Kentucky: Historic Houses and Horse Farms of Bluegrass Country (Monicelli Press, 2014). He is also on the boards of the Historic Red Hook Advisory Council and Friends of Clermont, and belongs to the Edgewood Club in Tivoli, New York, founded in the 1880s by the original owners of many of the homes featured in Life Along the Hudson.
