This charming bowl the miniature version of a popular design and style that can be found throughout the area. Its function was in the ritualistic setting, possibly storing vital ingredients for offerings. The bowl is raised on three legs that represent jaguar heads. Inside the bowl itself, is a representation of a Shaman, kneeling and praying. Around the rim of this scene is a series of geometric patterns that combine to create a fluid unit that flows throughout the piece. The color on this terracotta piece remains subtle, allowing the sculptural influences to remain in the forefront. Such ingenuity accentuates the beauty of this vessel, and heightens our awareness for the unique.
